New process for providing public input during council meetings

Starting at the May 7 regular council meeting, anyone wishing to speak during Public Input at a Council or Committee of the Whole meeting will need to sign up using the new online Public Input Request webform at www.northcowichan.ca/publicinput.

The webform will open 30 minutes before the start of each meeting, and close 10 minutes before the meeting starts.

You can sign up to participate:

  • In person – using the iPad located at the entrance of Council Chambers at Municipal Hall
  • Electronically – complete the webform from any electronic device
  • Telephone – complete the webform and choose “telephone” as the way you want to participate

This new process streamlines the registration of speakers, modernizes participation, and ensures only registered speakers are included during Public Input.

When you complete the webform, it will show what speaker number you are. The first five speakers will be called to speak by the Mayor or meeting chair. Speakers who are number six or greater may have an opportunity to speak, however that is at the discretion of Council, or meeting chair.
