Canada Avenue

Tentative construction: Spring to Fall 2026 (Pending Council approval).
Roads: Canada Avenue between Sherman Rd and Beverly St.
Coordinated concurrent activity with the City of Duncan on their portion of Canada Avenue.
Federal Active Transportation Grant Co-Funding: This project has secured 60% grant funding on eligible active transportation components.

Final stages of design underway.

Replacement of two bridges over Somenos Creek.
New concrete box culvert structures.
Road realignment to reduce impact on adjacent environmentally-sensitive fish bearing Somenos Creek.
Active transportation improvements including sidewalk upgrades, paved multi-use trail, and improved road crossings.
Construction of a missing link in the Friendship Trail for improved connectivity.
Extending multi-use pathway (MUP) for pedestrians and cyclists surrounding the Sherman Road roundabout.
Paving and other upgrades to Friendship Trail from Beverly Street to the Canada Avenue/First Street intersection.
Speed management features including narrowed driving lanes and speed limit change to 40 km/h.
Replacement and rehabilitation of sanitary sewers and replacement of a City of Duncan-owned water main.
Drainage improvements.
