The Province has increased the drought rating to Level 4 for East Vancouver Island. In response, North Cowichan has moved to Stage 3 water restrictions effective Friday, June 30 until further notice.
Sprinkling with conventional irrigation systems and sprinklers is not permitted during Stage 3. In addition, hand watering of lawns is not permitted, and the filling of pools and hot tubs is also not permitted.
Hand watering or micro-drip irrigation is permitted during Stage 3 for the following:
vegetable gardens and fruit trees – maximum of 2 hours per day
ornamental trees, shrubs, flower gardens – maximum of 1 hour per day
