Help protect local waterways by painting yellow fish symbols beside catch basins in your neighbourhood.
Yellow fish symbols beside storm drains remind us that these drains carry rainwater directly to local creeks, rivers, and the ocean where fish and other aquatic life live.
Anything poured into a storm drain, such as soap, oil, paint, or litter, can flow untreated into waterways and harm the environment.
Only rain goes down the drain.

Program overview
The program is open to everyone including students, schools, community groups, service clubs, families, and neighbours. No experience is needed!
We provide all the supplies you need to mark catch basins by painting a yellow fish symbol on the pavement beside the drain using a stencil.
Your kit includes paint, stencils, safety items, and educational materials. We will also provide you with door hangers to share in the neighbourhood where you are marking drains to spread awareness about protecting local waterways and the Yellow Fish Program.
When a yellow fish marking event is happening, organizers will drop off an information pamphlet at each home nearby.
