Current water main flushing:
South end water system
April 2 - May 28, 2024
Water main flushing is part of North Cowichan's ongoing routine maintenance in order to continue to provide high quality water to our customers.
During water main flushing, there may be short periods of low pressure and discolouration of water, or turbidity.
In some parts of North Cowichan, cast iron pipes may cause discolouration to water. This is not a concern to health or the public in general. If you experience discoloured water, run your taps until the water runs clear.
Utilities staff place signage in the area ahead of water main flushing work that lets area residents know when watermain flushing is planned or taking place. Commercial establishments, such as laundromats and beauty salons, will receive advance warning of flushing in their area if requested.
Please note: The Municipality is not responsible for any damage arising from the use of discoloured water.
