In an effort to alert residents and businesses of local critical incidents, the Municipality of North Cowichan has implemented an automated electronic alert service. This service will notify you by email, text message or telephone of the nature of the incident and where to obtain more information. Sign up now!

Fire Protection

The North Cowichan Fire Department is a trained and dedicated team of on-call paid firefighters with four fire halls: Chemainus, Crofton, Maple Bay and South End. 


North Cowichan is served by a local detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Details on your local policing services can be found here.

Health Services

Island Health (VIHA) provides health care to the residents of Vancouver Island, and oversees North Cowichan's main hospital, Cowichan District Hospital
